2017 is being heralded as the most outstanding year in Mount Jubilee Ministries’ 14 year history. Clearly, the Lord has had His hand on our work and has guided the leadership through valleys and mountains. We have experienced countless blessings. We must begin by focusing on the heartbeat of this ministry, our friends with special needs. The top priority of MJM is to serve and honor these individuals with programs and services that allow them to be included and recognized for who they are. MJM is excited to reflect on the highlights of 2017.

• MJM organized three trips to the Greensboro Coliseum this year. We partnered with the Greensboro Coliseum and WXII TV 12 in Winston Salem to receive discounted tickets to these various events. A huge thank you is extended to both businesses! Each of these events was attended by 50 family members of our special friends.

• In February our special needs friends and their families enjoyed the last ever showing in our area of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. This has been a ministry favorite for many years.

• We returned to the Greensboro Coliseum in March for an entertaining evening with the world famous Harlem Globetrotters.

• In November we were challenged to, “Dare to Dream” at the Disney on Ice event. This is another favorite for our friends.

• Touch Point seminars have always been an integral aspect of MJM’s programs. MJM hosted 15 special friends and over 40 volunteers to pack over 6700 meals to be shipped to Haiti. This service project was an enormous success and MJM will be doing similar service projects in the future.

• July 30th marked the beginning of Camp Jubilee 2017 with a new venue at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center in Reidsville. For 13 consecutive summers, MJM has hosted our signature program, a week long residential camp. Camp Jubilee 2017 enrolled unprecedented numbers. 43 campers and over 60 volunteers enjoyed a week of theatrical Bible lessons, vibrant singing, canoeing, horseback riding, archery, swimming and other special activities. Save the Date for Camp Jubilee 2018: August 8 at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H conference center.

• In October, just in time for the festive Autumn activities, the MJM family was invited to the West Family Chicken Stew. This event is quickly becoming an annual tradition. Garrett West, one of Camp Jubilee’s seasoned campers, and his family have mastered their family’s chicken stew recipe. Along with the delicious chicken stew, great fellowship, games and hayrides were enjoyed on their beautiful property in Forsyth County.

• The 2nd Annual MJM Family Fun Walk and Auction was held at Pennrose Park Country Club in Reidsville on September 9th. This is the signature fundraising event for generating necessary funds to support MJM programs and services. This fundraising event is gaining momentum and we are humbled by the support of our supporters and the community.

• October 12th & 13th Mount Jubilee Ministries participated in the 10th Annual Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase in Reidsville. This presented an excellent opportunity of awareness building and networking with over 50 businesses and nonprofits from throughout Rockingham County.

• Board development and committee engagement are top priorities for a successful organization. MJM’s leadership has prayed throughout the year for God’s provision of diverse talented board candidates. MJM hosted a thought leadership meeting on November 2nd soliciting targeted individuals to join the team.
