Mount Jubilee Ministries is excited to announce a new respite care opportunity designed to provide short-term, Airbnb-style stays for adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, affectionately known as “Heroes.” This innovative program offers families the ability to recharge while ensuring their loved ones experience compassionate care and growth opportunities in a safe, comfortable and engaging environment. Heroes will be guests in a home where the residential director(s) and others like them reside in community.  Guest stays can vary from one night to multiple weeks, providing flexibility for families seeking relief and peace of mind, and opportunities for their loved one to grow in relationships.

The respite care initiative is borne out of aspirations of families facing similar needs for their loved ones and has been being developed in response to valuable feedback from a survey sent to families earlier this year, in which more than 70% expressed interest in short-term care options for their Heroes. This new offering not only meets an immediate need but also serves as an important strategic step in MJM’s journey toward establishing a larger permanent residential community in Reidsville, NC. By providing overnight care in a welcoming, home-like atmosphere, in conjunction with operating His Path Day program next door, MJM will gain essential insights and experiences into delivering exceptional residential services that reflect its commitment to holistic support for individuals and their families.

“We are thrilled to offer this vital service and meet the needs expressed by our community,” said Jessie Meador, Executive Director of Mount Jubilee Ministries. “Our Heroes will experience the comfort and care they deserve, while families can rest knowing their loved ones are in trusted hands.”

Respite care will be offered at two homes in Greensboro. The Caritas House for Women will be primarily used for female stays and is located adjacent to the His Path Day program at Westover Church. Hope Haven for Men is also in Greensboro, approximately 6 miles from Westover Church.

MJM is currently recruiting and on-boarding the residential support team and furnishing with the help of sponsors the residences which have already been acquired and dedicated for this redemptive purpose. We anticipate hosting our first guests by April 2025 and will begin accepting reservations in January. Families interested in learning more or securing a spot on the interest list are encouraged to complete the form here. Stay tuned for further updates as we prepare to launch this much-needed service.
