Camp Jubilee 2023 – Showers of Blessing
On Sunday afternoon, June 18th, 52 campers from across the Piedmont, Florida, and Virginia convened at Betsy Jeff Penn 4 H Educational Center for that most magical week of the year – Camp Jubilee. Over 70 volunteers: counselors, support staff and nurses, lined up for the now familiar reception line, cheering each camper and camper family as they arrived. Camp Jubilee, the foundational event hosted by Mount Jubilee Ministries where teens and adults with special needs enjoy a 5 day 4 night sleep-over camp, is often looked at as the highlight of the year for our special friends. Camp Jubilee 2023 was no exception. Special events like the Sunday Night Dance, a visit from the Hodnett Family Bluegrass Band, and daily activities such as canoeing, horseback riding and archery made for an amazing week. Campers enjoyed a fun-filled week of adventure, fun and renewing acquaintances with old and dear friends. Our campers also experienced a spiritual feast as each morning and evening, Peter, Emily, Forest, Joy and Sarah Dodge lead our praise and worship. With every session, the stage was filled with campers volunteering their heartfelt worship in song. Following the praise and worship, this year’s Bible teacher, David Cullen, shared stories and teaching from the lives of Jesus’ disciples, Peter and John. 
As always, the annual talent show was the highlight of the week with over 45 of our campers serenading us with song, showing their skills with cornhole, dancing, and displaying their gifts of art, story-telling, trivia and more. The many guests who came were genuinely moved by the warmth and blessing provided by our campers.
Camp was made complete with the Wednesday evening campfire. Here, campers and counselors shared testimonies on what Camp Jubilee and the new friendships formed meant to them. This special time provides both an opportunity to give thanks and also to express how God has enriched their lives through the ministry provided at Camp Jubilee.
Despite the rains that fell throughout the week, showers of blessing rained down on all who attended. Camp Jubilee truly is a special place for special people.
